Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lavern Meyers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knock Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lavern Meyers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Knock Out!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Meyers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Meyers gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Meyers won't allow Out to sweep him here.
Meyers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Out trying to keep a closed guard but Meyers is proving a slippery customer.

Meyers drops back, looking for a kneebar! Out looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Out looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Out!

Meyers wants to control but Out postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyers is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Out has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Meyers is not content to let Out control the position.
Meyers can't do much from the bottom here.

Out wants to control but Meyers is keeping him busy.
Out really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meyers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Meyers manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Meyers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Out wants to control but Meyers is keeping busy.

Meyers is working for a kimura but Out is defending it quite comfortably.
Out has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA Hilo. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Meyers is trying to work for a kimura but Out is defending well.

Meyers is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Out defends it well.

Meyers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Meyers wants to stand up but Out is controlling the position.
Out pushes Meyers off looking to stand but Meyers dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Out is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Meyers gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Out misses with a kick to the body

and Meyers counters by moving into the clinch.
Out looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Meyers pulls guard.
Meyers wants to sweep here but Out controlling him for the moment.
Out must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Meyers is pulling down on Out's head. It's preventing any offense from Out, at least for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Meyers is looking to stand up but Out isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Out takes the fight into the clinch.

Meyers manages to pull guard.
Meyers keeping moving, preventing Out from controlling successfully.
Meyers has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Meyers has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Out off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Out throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Meyers gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Out is working Meyers over against the cage.

Meyers jumps guard.
Meyers wants to stand and escape but Out is having none of it.
Meyers controlling the position.

Meyers throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Lavern Meyers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Out trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Meyers manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Meyers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Out can do to turn this around?
Meyers stays in close to Out's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meyers postures up and lands a big shot to Out's brow.

Out is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Out has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Meyers has passed into side control.
Meyers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Meyers lands an elbow.

Meyers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Out, who protects the arm well.

Meyers is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Out knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Out is pushing Meyers's head away, looking to escape. Meyers manages to hold on to the position though.

Meyers wants to control but Out is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Meyers looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Meyers wants to control but Out is keeping him busy.

Meyers is trying to get an arm triangle but Out is defending well.
Out pushes Meyers away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Meyers gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Meyers stands up.
Out is breathing heavily.
Out misses with a jab, cross combination.

Out closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Meyers's guard.

Meyers pushes Out off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Out tries to keep at a distance but Meyers has taken the fight into the clinch.

Meyers drags the fight down to the ground.
Meyers has Out pulled in close to control his posture.

Meyers has his feet on Out's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lavern Meyers dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Meyers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Out is trying to defend but Meyers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Meyers is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Out manages to get to full guard.

Meyers stands up from Out's guard - Meyers perhaps looking for a knockout.
Meyers tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Out looks to land a body kick but Meyers moved away.

Meyers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Meyers lands in his opponent's guard.

Out pushes Meyers off and gets back to his feet.
Knock Out seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Out takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

No joy there for Out, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Meyers blocks a head kick by Out.

Meyers gets a takedown into half guard.

Meyers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Out is just riding it out for now. Meyers eventually gives up the hold.
Meyers is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Meyers is working for a submission of some sort.
Meyers content to control rather than advance.

Meyers seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Out is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
