Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shit Face (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Face comes to the cage accompanied by Blue clear sky. Gabriel Rua has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Shit Face!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gabriel Rua!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Face throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Face finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Face postures up.
Rua keeping moving, preventing Face from controlling successfully.
Face postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Face trying to control but Rua is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Face not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Face being controlled here momentarily.

Face advances position into side control!

Face working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rua tries to bench press Face off him but Face keeps the position.

Rua can't do much from the bottom here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rua is looking to regain half guard here but Face keeps moving and retains side control.
Face working away.
Face throws an elbow but Rua slips to the side and avoids it well.

Face wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rua, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Face thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Face wants to control but Rua is keeping him busy.
Rua taking a bit of punishment here - Face scoring with strikes.

Rua is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Face trying to control the position but Rua is working away.
Face just content to control the position.
Face seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rua for as long as he can get away with.

Face is trying to get an arm triangle but Rua is defending well.
Face advances to full mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Face throws a sloppy strike and Rua uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Rua has ended up in Face's guard.

Face had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily.
Rua tries to free his leg and advance position but Face is retaining full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Face working a defensive guard but Rua manages to pass into side control anyway.
Face is not content to let Rua control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shit Face dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Face circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rua lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Face chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rua can pounce on him.
Rua stuffs the takedown.
Face checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Face feinted with a counter takedown.
Rua fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Face has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rua keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Face shoots in for a takedown but Rua shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rua throws a solid leg kick but Face takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Rua.
Face attempts a counter takedown but Rua avoids it well and moves away.
Rua feints and then cracks Face's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Face down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Face moves out of range of the leg kick from Rua.
Shit Face is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Face looking to score a takedown here. Rua is defending well but Face drives through and ends up in Rua's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Face throws a big right hand that misses.
Face looking to sit in guard and control but Rua gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rua won't allow Face to sweep him here.
Rua postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Face looking for a sweep. Not yet Face, not yet.
Face working a defensive guard here.
Face wants to sweep here but Rua controlling him for the moment.
Rua trying to stand up but can't free himself from Face's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Face is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Face looking for a sweep. Not yet Face, not yet.
Rua trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Face escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rua gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rua wants to control from the top but Face keeps moving.
Rua won't allow Face to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A nice inside leg kick there by Rua. That's going to slow Face down.
Rua lands with a thumping leg kick.
Rua connects with a leg kick. Face looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Face fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shit Face. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rua throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Face has a takedown stuffed.
Rua misses with a head kick.
Rua connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Gabriel Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Face moves out of range of the leg kick from Rua.
Face changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Rua tries to score with a low kick but Face moves his leg out of the way.
Rua goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Face half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Face shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rua defends it nicely.
A head kick misses from Rua.

Face scores with a takedown into Rua's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rua trying to keep a closed guard but Face is proving a slippery customer.

Gabriel Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Rua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Face trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Shit Face overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rua tries to free his leg and advance position but Face is retaining full guard.

Face is working for a kimura but Rua is defending it quite comfortably.
Face is trying to control the action in half guard but Rua is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
