Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masa Wasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wasa has chosen Welcome To The Jungle as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Masa Wasa!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Griffin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Wasa is out of range and Griffin settles back down.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Wasa! But no joy.
Griffin looks to throw the jab but Wasa is out of range.
Griffin misses with a leg kick.
Griffin lands with a nice combination. Wasa backs away looking to recover.
Wasa jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Griffin loads up on a big right hand but Wasa slips the punch.
It seemed like Wasa was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Griffin is looking to land body kicks.
Griffin misses with a series of wild punches.

Wasa connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Griffin to the floor! Wasa dives in looking for the finish!


Griffin is rocked!


It looks like Chris Griffin has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wasa works his foot free and advances to mount.
Oh Griffin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Wasa is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Griffin has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Wasa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Griffin seems to have got his legs back now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wasa avoids the attempt from Griffin to control.

Wasa working for a guillotine from mount but Griffin is in no mood to give up.
Wasa forces the positional change into back control.

Wasa working for the choke.
Wasa misses with a punch to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wasa doesn't have the hooks in and Griffin manages to turn into his guard.
Wasa is trying to control the position but Griffin postures up.
Wasa keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.
Griffin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Wasa looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Griffin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wasa is proving hard to escape from.
Griffin lands a couple of digs.

Wasa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Griffin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wasa keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griffin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Griffin trying to control the position from guard on top but Wasa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Griffin stays in close to Wasa's body and controls the position.

Wasa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Griffin is aware though and is defending well.

Wasa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Griffin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Griffin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wasa is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Griffin has his hands clasped together but Wasa extends and breaks Griffin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Wasa.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Masa Wasa!
An out of breath Masa Wasa thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
