PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexi Laiho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genesis Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Piper has chosen Ride Out-Kid Ink, Tyga as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexi Laiho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Genesis Piper!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laiho throws a good cross that connects.
Laiho has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hugs & Kisses in the buildup to the fight.
Laiho looks to land a left hand but Piper moved out of range nicely.
Despite the aggression on Piper's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Piper is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Laiho.
Piper avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Piper lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Piper avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Laiho scores with the left hand. Piper knows he should have avoided that one.
Laiho throws a shot from downtown. Piper moves away and avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Laiho gets a clinch.
Laiho lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
Piper is trying to break free.
Piper wants to get back to striking at distance but Laiho won't allow it.
Laiho prevents Piper from breaking the clinch.
Laiho lands a left hand that snaps the head of Piper backwards.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Piper has had enough of the clinch but Laiho keeps him there for the moment.
Piper is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Laiho looking to stall.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Piper has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Laiho keeps control of Piper as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Piper struggles to land a body shot inside as Laiho controls his hands.
Piper wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Laiho has him pressed against the ropes.
Piper lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Piper wants to break the clinch but can't.
Piper's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Piper is trying to force a seperation but Laiho has the dominant position.

Laiho breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Piper throws a series of punches but Laiho avoids them all with ease.
Genesis Piper is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Some wild striking there from Piper.
Piper looks to throw the jab but Laiho is out of range.
Laiho went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Laiho shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Piper eats them both and turns towards Laiho to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Alexi Laiho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laiho fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


Piper is rocked!
Laiho showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Piper.
Piper is still on wobbly legs! Can Laiho finish him?
Laiho connects with a stiff jab that staggers Piper - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Alexi Laiho!
In his post fight interview, Alexi Laiho started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Genesis Piper spoke after the fight, saying 'My debut in Future Fighting did not go as planned but setbacks are a part of the game and I'm the type off guy who learns from his mistakes. I'll be back for sure'.
