PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Beck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beck kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Adventure Club - Do I See Color. Frost has chosen Cocain as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Beck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Frost!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frost pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Beck was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Frost throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Frost wants to clinch up but Beck keeps it at a distance.
Frost goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Beck takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A head kick from Frost lands but Beck takes it in his stride.
Frost throws a head kick that Beck semi-blocks.
Frost looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Beck throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Frost tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Beck is in Frost's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Frost had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beck defends it easily.
Beck postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Beck throwing strikes from guard but Frost blocks nicely.
Beck chips away with some ground and pound.

Beck distracts Frost with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Frost can do anything to dispel that myth.
Frost has momentary wrist control but Beck slips an elbow through the middle.
Beck with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beck avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Frost is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Frost is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Beck trying to control the position from guard on top but Frost is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Frost looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beck is one step ahead there.
Frost utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Beck wants to pass the guard but Frost is keeping the position.

Frost is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beck defends well.
Beck is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Frost looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Frost is looking for a triangle but Beck pushes his legs off easily.
Frost wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Beck accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Beck pushes down on Frost's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Beck is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Frost is trying to stand back up but Beck is controlling him

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Frost scores with a kick to the midsection.
Beck circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marcus Beck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick misses from Frost.
Beck appears to be looking for a big counter.
Beck blocks a leg kick.
Frost tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Beck went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Beck is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

Frost rushes Beck and presses him up against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Frost as the two fighters clinch.
Beck is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Frost to keep the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beck tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Frost just stands there and leans against the cage.

Frost landing knees to the head.
Frost lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Frost has a couple of punches blocked by Beck.
Frost lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Beck avoids the elbow strike from Frost, against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Frost fails to land.
Beck blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Beck is trying to pull guard but Frost has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Beck. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Frost misses with a punch to the body.
Frost lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Frost lands an elbow inside.
Frost lands a good knee to the midsection. Beck won't want to take too many of those.

Frost creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Beck's defenses.
Frost goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Beck tries to pull guard but Frost holds him up against the cage and eventually Beck drops back down to his feet.
Frost misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Beck.
Frost tries to land a knee to the head but Beck blocks with his arms.

Beck ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Beck no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Frost is working Beck over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Frost throws a sloppy strike and Beck has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Frost is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Beck!
