PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tung Fo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cage has chosen Basic Element - Rage as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Johnny Cage will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tung Fo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Cage!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cage has closed the distance and engaged Fo in a clinch.
Fo is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cage is defending well.
Cage swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Fo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Fo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tung Fo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cage misses with a punch on the inside.
Cage lands with a left to the head.
Fo is looking for a takedown.
We've been hearing reports that Fo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A short uppercut from Cage.
Cage softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Fo blocking some punches.
Fo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fo tries for a takedown but Cage manages to get underhooks.
Cage lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fo backwards.
Fo wants a takedown but no success here.
Fo jumps guard but Cage turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cage misses with a hook from the clinch.
Fo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cage just stands there and leans against the cage.
Fo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Fo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cage walks away with a smile on his face. Fo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fo shoots in but no luck this time.
Fo fails with the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fo shoots in looking for a takedown. Cage tries to sprawl out of it but Fo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cage closes the distance and pushes Fo back into the cage.
Fo wants a takedown but no success here.
Cage misses with the head strike.
Fo tries to pull guard but Cage holds him up against the cage and eventually Fo drops back down to his feet.
A short left from Cage.
Cage scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Cage is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Cage fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Cage misses with a short punch on the inside.

Fo has clasped his hands together around Cage's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Cage is trying to buck Fo off.
Fo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cage has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Fo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Cage is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Fo yanks on the arm and Cage is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Fo.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tung Fo!
