PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Farts Alot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mitch Shields has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mitch Shields seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alot closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shields regains full guard. Nicely done.
Alot cracks Shields with a solid left hand.
Alot is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Shields is looking to stand up but Alot isn't so interested in that idea.
Shields could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Alot distracts Shields with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Shields wants to sweep but no luck.
Alot looking to sit in guard and control but Shields gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Alot has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shields can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Shields got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alot has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shields has managed to get both his arms back between Alot's legs - danger averted.
Alot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alot connects with a nice short shot to Shields's temple.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alot looking to sit in guard and control but Shields gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Shields is standing up over Alot. Alot looks to escape but Shields dives into side control.
Alot is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Alot is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Mitch Shields will probably get the nod.

Alot takes the fight into the clinch.

Alot is trying to trip Shields. He has hold of a leg but Shields is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Alot persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Alot must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shields not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alot gets to his feet and stands over Shields, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Shields felt that one! Alot unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Shields from any more punishment!
