PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kyrie Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aloysius Wiremu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wiremu has chosen Billy Joel - The River of Dreams as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyrie Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aloysius Wiremu!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wiremu lands with a thumping leg kick.
Wiremu is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Perry.
Wiremu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Perry paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Perry smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Perry uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wiremu.
Wiremu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Perry manages to avoid it.
Wiremu has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Wiremu fakes the leg kick and cracks Perry in the body.
Aloysius Wiremu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wiremu lands a two punch combo.

Wiremu tries to sprawl but Perry drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Perry wants to free his trapped foot but Wiremu is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Perry looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Perry is taking a breather. Wiremu says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Perry seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wiremu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Perry is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wiremu is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Perry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Wiremu takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyrie Perry will probably get the nod.

Perry wants to take the fight to the mat but Wiremu manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Wiremu lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Perry has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wiremu after a bit of a struggle.
