The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnes has Lyles up against the cage in a clinch.

Barnes bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lyles's guard.
Barnes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Barnes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Barnes stands and throws Lyles's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Lyles is trying to control Barnes's posture but Barnes avoids it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barnes wants to control but Lyles is keeping him busy.

Barnes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lyles is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Barnes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lyles has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Barnes but great work by Lyles.
