Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Steigelmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenta Yuudai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Steigelmann!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenta Yuudai!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yuudai chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Steigelmann can pounce on him.
Steigelmann wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Yuudai tries to move into range but Steigelmann moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.


It looks like Kenta Yuudai has been cut.

Steigelmann lands a big shot that drops Yuudai! Can he finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Steigelmann is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Yuudai is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Steigelmann is controlling him.
Steigelmann's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Steigelmann's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Our spies down at at LOD: Lightning Kicks (MaxID267K) inform us that Yuudai has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Yuudai is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steigelmann throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Yuudai works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Steigelmann has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Beast in the buildup to the fight.
A decent looking cross lands there for Yuudai.
Steigelmann throws a wild body kick that Yuudai sees coming a mile off.
Steigelmann lands a nice shot that snaps Yuudai's head back.
Gunnar Steigelmann is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Steigelmann swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Yuudai counters with a three punch combo that has Steigelmann backing up. Steigelmann nods at Yuudai to acknowledge the strikes.
Steigelmann throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Yuudai is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Yuudai slips under a jab.
Yuudai lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
A right-left combo lands from Yuudai.


It looks like Gunnar Steigelmann has been cut.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yuudai throws a nice outside leg kick.

Yuudai takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Yuudai! But no joy.

Steigelmann throws a lazy head kick
and Yuudai cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Yuudai misses with a few strikes there.

Steigelmann drops Yuudai with a left and a right! Oh, Yuudai is hurt - Steigelmann dives into side control looking to finish!


Yuudai is rocked!
Steigelmann is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Yuudai is still in real trouble! Can Steigelmann finish him?
Steigelmann continues to stall.
Steigelmann tries to score with some ground and pound. Yuudai controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Steigelmann controls the position.
Yuudai seems to have recovered his senses.
Steigelmann advances to mount.
Yuudai tries to hold on but Steigelmann postures up.
Steigelmann sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steigelmann misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Steigelmann controlling the pace for now.
Yuudai regains half guard.
Steigelmann slows the pace down in half guard.
Steigelmann prevents Yuudai from standing back up.
Steigelmann throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunnar Steigelmann dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Steigelmann throws a combination that misses
and Yuudai counters with a series of strikes. Steigelmann will be more careful next time no doubt.
Yuudai looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Yuudai sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Yuudai swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Steigelmann takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Yuudai misses with an uppercut. Steigelmann saw that one coming.
Steigelmann missing with a left hand there. Yuudai was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Yuudai lunges at Steigelmann with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Steigelmann's hand.

Yuudai misses with a looping left.

Yuudai ducks straight into an uppercut from Steigelmann and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Yuudai manages to regain guard straight away.


That has opened up Kenta Yuudai's cut even more.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steigelmann content to stall in guard here.
Steigelmann is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yuudai can do to turn this around?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Steigelmann wants to pass the guard but Yuudai is keeping the position.
Steigelmann controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Steigelmann throws a hook to the side of Yuudai's head but Yuudai sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Steigelmann fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yuudai manages to avoid it.
Yuudai drops his hands momentarily and Steigelmann takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Yuudai tries to clinch but Steigelmann is having none of it.

Steigelmann fails to land with a series of punches.
Gunnar Steigelmann is winning the standup battle so far.

A right-left combo lands from Yuudai.
Steigelmann throws a sloppy body shot
and Yuudai connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gunnar Steigelmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yuudai uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Steigelmann.
Steigelmann misses with a combination
and Yuudai counters with a series of strikes. Steigelmann will be more careful next time no doubt.

Steigelmann lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yuudai circles away quickly and effectively.
Yuudai unleashes a big counter combination but Steigelmann bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Steigelmann closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Steigelmann fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Yuudai has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Yuudai counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Steigelmann with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Yuudai to score with a decent uppercut.

Steigelmann lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Yuudai swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Steigelmann looks to score with a jab to the body but Yuudai is just out of range.
Yuudai misses with a few strikes there.
A clash of legs there as Yuudai blocks the low kick.
Steigelmann cracks Yuudai with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


The cut above Kenta Yuudai's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Yuudai avoids the head kick by Steigelmann.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gunnar Steigelmann will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Yuudai tries for a takedown but Steigelmann circles away easily
and Steigelmann counters with a solid body kick.
Crack! Steigelmann connects with the perfect overhand right and Yuudai falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Steigelmann!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gunnar Steigelmann!

After winning the bout, Gunnar Steigelmann thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
