Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Gattis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robbie Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Gattis!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gattis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lawler waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gattis.
Gattis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lawler's head.

Gattis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lawler did well to prevent Gattis getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lawler controlling the position well.
Gattis wants to take a breather but Lawler is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawler tries to roll over but Gattis keeps him under control.
Lawler is refusing to be controlled, as Gattis sits in half guard.
Lawler on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gattis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lawler controlling the position for now.
Lawler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gattis thows a huge punch but Lawler dodges it nicely.

Gattis is working for a kimura but Lawler is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lawler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gattis trying to control the action but Lawler is working from the bottom.
Lawler wants to get back to full guard but Gattis has mounted him!
Lawler tries to reverse the position but Gattis maintains control.
Gattis lands a couple of good shots and Lawler has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Lawler has hold of Gattis's leg, trying to break free but it's let Gattis lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Lawler is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Gattis throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). James Gattis!
