PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Diatomaceous Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Del Amitri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Del Amitri told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Amitri misses.
Smiff fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck for Amitri with that takedown attempt.
Amitri tries to close the distance and clinch but Smiff swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Amitri displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smiff.

Smiff tries to keep at a distance but Amitri has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smiff has Amitri pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Smiff pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Amitri tumbling to the mat - Smiff dives into Amitri's guard.
Smiff scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Amitri can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smiff wants to control from the top but Amitri keeps moving.
Smiff works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Smiff sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Amitri defending well though.
Amitri is looking to control Smiff's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Amitri avoid being mounted?
Smiff passes to full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smiff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Amitri is working to get back to half guard.
Smiff punching from mount but Amitri doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Amitri is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Smiff can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Amitri is looking to escape.
Amitri is trying desperately to improve position.
Smiff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smiff lands a big elbow.

Smiff can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Amitri is looking to escape.
Smiff avoids the attempt from Amitri to control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Amitri is bucking up trying to escape but Smiff cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Smiff lands a heavy elbow.
Smiff lands a big shot there that rocks Amitri but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Amitri is in a horrible position here. Smiff smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Smiff postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Amitri looks a forlorn figure.

Amitri is rocked!
Amitri wants to hold on but Smiff pushes him away.
Smiff lands a couple of good shots and Amitri has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Amitri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smiff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smiff is trying to control but Amitri is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Smiff lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Smiff! Amitri is hurt baaadly! Smiff is firing away with more strikes - Amitri is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diatomaceous Smiff!
Diatomaceous Smiff decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
