Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johan Axelsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 45 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Kinji!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kinji throws a low kick but Axelsson avoids it.
Axelsson misses with a body shot.
Axelsson just misses with a punch to the body.
Axelsson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Good exchange - Kinji coming out on top.


It looks like Johan Axelsson has been cut.

and Axelsson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kinji pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kinji will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Kinji takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Axelsson works Kinji's body with a nice hook.

Axelsson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Axelsson in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kinji connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Axelsson's hands.

and Axelsson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kinji won't be happy with that.
Kinji is trying to control Axelsson's posture but Axelsson avoids it.
Axelsson throws a strike aimed at the side of Kinji's head but Kinji avoids it well.
Axelsson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johan Axelsson will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kinji uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Axelsson.
