PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gus Beach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chaz Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams has chosen Bad Ass as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gus Beach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chaz Williams!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Williams wants a takedown but no success here.
Beach misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Williams.
Beach is stalling here.
Williams tries for a takedown but Beach manages to get underhooks.
Beach misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Beach goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gus Beach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chaz Williams.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Beach takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Williams dives in and grabs Beach's left leg, looking for a takedown. Beach pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.

Beach is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Williams is controlling him.
Williams wants to control from the top but Beach keeps moving.
Beach will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Beach has his foot on Williams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williams works his way back into a safe position though.

Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beach. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Beach working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Beach has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Williams can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Beach is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Beach is looking to stand up but Williams isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Williams has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Beach has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Beach struggles to land a body shot inside as Williams controls his hands.
Williams wants to take the fight to the mat but Beach manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Williams blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Williams tries to score a body lock takedown but Beach shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gus Beach will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Williams shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Beach counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beach trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but Beach is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Beach wants to stand but Williams has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beach gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beach sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
Beach tries to counter by clinching up but Williams breaks away and moves out of range.

Gus Beach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chaz Williams.
Beach tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Williams defends well and Beach ends up having to push Williams into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Williams remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Beach manages to work his way to half guard, despite Williams's best efforts.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Beach is looking for a triangle but Williams pushes his legs off easily.

Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Gus Beach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Beach holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Beach as he jumps to the side.

Beach throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Williams's waist but Williams gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beach off to one side.
Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Beach but Beach pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Beach escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Williams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Beach has an active guard here but Williams has managed to pass into half guard.

Beach really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Williams lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Beach is looking for a sweep. Williams is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Beach is refusing to be controlled, as Williams sits in half guard.

Williams working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Beach looks like he's trying to stand up.

Beach is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Williams pulls his head out easily.

Chaz Williams has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gus Beach is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Beach is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Williams scores with a couple of nice shots.
Williams looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Beach with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chaz Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Beach has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
