Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fred Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phat Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons comes to the ring accompanied by Dog Wild Heaven. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phat Ho!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ho.
Ho with a nice cross.
Simmons with a lazy takedown attempt
and Ho counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Simmons looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ho wants to counter with a clinch but Simmons pushes him away.
Nice takedown defense from Ho. No joy for Simmons on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Simmons. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ho swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Simmons.
Ho connects with a leg kick. Simmons looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Ho. That's going to slow Simmons down.
Ho thows a leg kick but Simmons checks it

and Simmons counters with a shoot takedown. Ho fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Simmons tries to free his leg and advance position but Ho is retaining full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simmons scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ho wants to get back to his feet but Simmons is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Simmons working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ho's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Simmons wants to control from the top but Ho keeps moving.

Simmons thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Simmons trying to control but Ho is working from the bottom.

Simmons drops back looking for a leg! Ho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ho manages to kick Simmons off! Simmons jumps back into Ho's guard.
Ho keeping moving, preventing Simmons from controlling successfully.
Simmons passes into half guard.

Simmons wants to work for an arm triangle but Ho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ho pushes Simmons off looking to stand but Simmons dives back in and keeps control.
Ho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simmons. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
It looks like Simmons is going to stand back up.
Simmons wants to free his trapped foot but Ho is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Simmons throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ho tries to kick Simmons off but Simmons keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ho can do anything to dispel that myth.
Simmons sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ho defending well though.
Simmons wants to pass to mount but Ho is defending the position.
Simmons trying to control from half guard but Ho is working away.
Simmons passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ho!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Simmons is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ho has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ho trying desperately to get to his feet.
Ho tries to reverse the position but Simmons maintains control.

Simmons goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ho is on top in guard.
Ho trying to control the position from guard on top but Simmons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Simmons looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ho passes into half guard.
Simmons is refusing to be controlled, as Ho sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ho tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Simmons.
Simmons wants to get back to full guard.
Ho wants to control but Simmons is keeping him busy.
Simmons is pressing down on Ho's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ho trying to control the position from guard on top but Simmons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ho avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Simmons seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ho wants to stand but Simmons is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fred Simmons will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ho throws a lazy right hand but Simmons sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Simmons closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ho did well to prevent Simmons getting side control.
Ho is trying to stand up here but Simmons is controlling him well.
Simmons is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ho!

Simmons has control of Ho's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ho regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ho is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ho tries to buck Simmons off but he can't manage it.
Ho bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Ho is sitting in close to Simmons's body. Simmons has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ho is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ho is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Simmons.
