Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Paine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave McIntosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Thomas Paine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dave McIntosh!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paine drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
McIntosh has Paine pulled in close to control his posture.
Paine landing some decent shots from guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Paine is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McIntosh is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McIntosh has escaped and now he's on top!

Paine is looking to stand up but McIntosh isn't so interested in that idea.

Paine pushes McIntosh off and gets back to his feet.

McIntosh looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Paine looks like he's trying to stand up.
Paine pushes McIntosh off but McIntosh dives into side control.

McIntosh decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Paine tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McIntosh swivels and escapes.
As Paine backs off McIntosh throws a huge counter combo but Paine manages to avoid it all.
Paine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McIntosh tries to avoid it but Paine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McIntosh to the ground. McIntosh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Paine is breathing heavily.
Paine shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas Paine. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McIntosh closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Paine quickly recovers to half guard.

Paine has one foot on McIntosh's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Paine shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McIntosh counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McIntosh.

McIntosh pulls guard effortlessly.
Paine has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Paine is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.

Paine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Paine stops McIntosh from standing up.

Paine has gone for a leg lock! McIntosh slips out almost immediately though and dives into Paine's guard.

McIntosh is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

McIntosh thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
McIntosh is looking to take a break and control but Paine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Paine is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McIntosh is controlling him well.
McIntosh lands an elbow.

McIntosh cracks Paine with an elbow. That is naaassty.

McIntosh stands up and beckons Paine to his feet.

McIntosh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Paine pushes McIntosh off but McIntosh dives into side control.
Paine seems a little lost for a moment, as McIntosh dominates the positioning.

Paine bucks up and tries to throw McIntosh off but instead McIntosh has got his back!

McIntosh working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
McIntosh punches Paine on the ear.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McIntosh looking for the choke from the back.
Paine is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - McIntosh's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

McIntosh has his opponent's back but Paine is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off McIntosh.
Paine shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McIntosh as he avoids it easily.

McIntosh forces Paine back against the cage and clinches.

McIntosh turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and McIntosh manages to end up in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave McIntosh dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Paine tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McIntosh defends well and Paine ends up having to push McIntosh into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Paine or perhaps it was just good defense by McIntosh, which made it look bad.

McIntosh leaves Paine with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McIntosh fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paine sprawls well initially but McIntosh persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McIntosh is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
McIntosh is taking a breather. Paine says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McIntosh is nestled in close to Paine, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

McIntosh prevents Paine from standing back up.
McIntosh keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McIntosh connects with a nice short shot to Paine's temple.
McIntosh winds up and cracks Paine with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
McIntosh trying to control from half guard but Paine is working away.
Dave McIntosh has got the better of the ground game so far.
McIntosh looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Paine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paine is trying to stand back up but McIntosh is controlling him

McIntosh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Paine is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McIntosh grinds an elbow into Paine's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McIntosh working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Paine wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Paine is looking to get back to his feet here but McIntosh is keeping cool and he's managed to take Paine's back.

McIntosh controlling the position well here. Paine rolled but McIntosh kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Let's hope that McIntosh has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Paine is trying to defend against the choke here but McIntosh has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. McIntosh Tightens the hold and Paine taps out furiously! McIntosh displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
