Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kai Kha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Ciprianni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kai Kha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Ciprianni!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kha takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kha looks to score with a jab to the body but Ciprianni is just out of range.
Kha looks to land a left hand but Ciprianni moved out of range nicely.
Kha tries to land a leg kick but Ciprianni saw it coming and moves away.
Ciprianni tries a quick counter leg kick but Kha is wise to it.
Kha misses with a kick to the body.
Ciprianni lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Nice cross by Ciprianni.
Ciprianni throws a push kick but Kha slaps the foot to one side.
Kha cracks Ciprianni with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Ciprianni counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kha.
Ciprianni lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kha's sensitive parts.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ciprianni has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

It looks like Danny Ciprianni has been cut.

Kha does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Ciprianni takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kha moves out of range of the body kick.
Kha throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Ciprianni counters with a nice leg kick.
Kha tries to land a leg kick but Ciprianni saw it coming and moves away.
Ciprianni takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Kha takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kai Kha is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ciprianni tries to close the distance and clinch but Kha swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Danny Ciprianni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kha feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ciprianni sprawling to the canvas! Ciprianni rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kha finish him?!


Ciprianni is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ciprianni cracks Kha with an open hand slap.
Kha swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kha motions for Ciprianni to come forward. Kha throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kha fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ciprianni checks it well.
Kha throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kha drops his hands momentarily and Ciprianni takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ciprianni connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Kha tries to keep at a distance but Ciprianni has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ciprianni scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Ciprianni lands with a right to the head.

Kha breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kha on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Ciprianni shoots in and bounces Kha off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Kha can't keep his opponent in guard - Ciprianni advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kha tries to get to full guard but Ciprianni has control of the leg.

Kha is pressing down on Ciprianni's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kha is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kai Kha will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ciprianni keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kha thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Ciprianni if he has to take too many more of those.
Kha looks to land a right hand but Ciprianni moved out of range.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ciprianni.
Kha throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ciprianni tries a quick counter leg kick but Kha is wise to it.
Ciprianni goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kha checks a leg kick.
Kha throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ciprianni darts in looking for a takedown but Kha gets double underhooks and turns Ciprianni into the cage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kha. Ciprianni does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ciprianni looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ciprianni closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ciprianni feints and then cracks Kha's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kha down.
Kai Kha is winning the standup battle so far.
Ciprianni lands with a straight right. Kha didn't see that one coming.
Ciprianni misses with a leg kick
and Kha finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kha crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ciprianni - the referee stops the clock and Kha gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ciprianni. Kha manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ciprianni sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ciprianni takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kha.
Ciprianni fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kha.

and Kha connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ciprianni is still on wobbly legs! Can Kha finish him?
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kha. Ciprianni shrugs it off though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kai Kha.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kha, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
