Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pete Ospreay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lafon Bornay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lafon Bornay!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ospreay throws a leg kick

and Bornay counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bornay.
Bornay trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Ospreay manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Ospreay is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ospreay trying to control the position from guard on top but Bornay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bornay is pulling down on Ospreay's head to control his posture.

Bornay wants to sweep but no luck.
Ospreay throws a big elbow that misses.
Ospreay wants to control from the top but Bornay keeps moving.

Ospreay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bornay can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ospreay tries for a kimura but Bornay is defending well.
Bornay is trying to work for a sweep but Ospreay has mounted him!
Bornay tries to reverse the position but Ospreay maintains control.
Ospreay sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Ospreay is stalling here but it's allowed Bornay to get half guard.
Ospreay is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Ospreay is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ospreay wants to control but Bornay is keeping him busy.
Bornay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ospreay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bornay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ospreay is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bornay sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Bornay takes a little break here. Ospreay wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

A close round but Lafon Bornay will probably get the nod.

Ospreay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bornay swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ospreay is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bornay in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Lafon Bornay has got the better of the ground game so far.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ospreay is trying to improve his position.
Ospreay is letting Bornay control him for a moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bornay is continuing to stall.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ospreay is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bornay asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bornay is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Lafon Bornay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Pete Ospreay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ospreay tries to clinch but Bornay moves out of range.

Lafon Bornay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bornay has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
