PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Will Dubois will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Dubois!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warner keeps the fight on the outside.

Dubois shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Dubois is standing up over Warner. Warner looks to escape but Dubois dives into side control.

Warner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The ground and pound from Dubois seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dubois has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Warner!

Dubois throws some wild stikes that Warner manages to avoid easily.

Dubois wants to control the pace but Warner is squirming around nicely.
Warner wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Dubois.

It looks like Dubois might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Warner's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Dubois is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Warner is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Dubois tries to keep control of the position but Warner is staying busy.

Dubois might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Warner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dubois throws strikes from the back but Warner rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Warner.
Dubois looking to sit in guard and control but Warner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Warner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dubois utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Warner with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dubois throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Warner is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Dubois scores with a jab to the body.

Dubois throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Warner was covering up waiting for the punch and Dubois finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Warner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Dubois manages to pass to side control.
Warner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dubois content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Warner tries to kick Dubois off but Dubois keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dubois is keen to just control but Warner is a slippery customer.

Warner scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Dubois manages to mount him!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Warner avoids a series of strikes thrown by Dubois.

Warner is squirming around, avoiding Dubois's attempts to control the action.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dubois takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Warner wants to hold on but Dubois pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dubois throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Warner because Dubois loaded up on that one.
Warner tries to lock up and control but Dubois gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Will Dubois showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Dubois closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dubois is pressed up against the cage. Warner has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dubois down to the mat. Dubois avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Dubois gets a takedown into half guard.

Warner manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Dubois keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Warner tries to pull guard but Dubois holds him up against the cage and eventually Warner drops back down to his feet.

Dubois ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dubois no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Dubois is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dubois is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Warner is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Warner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dubois is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Warner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Warner throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dubois works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Warner throws a strike but Dubois rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dubois must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dubois has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dubois seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Warner is trying to control but can't.
Warner is looking to escape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dubois tries to clinch but Warner moves out of range.
Warner tries to counter by clinching up but Dubois breaks away and moves out of range.
Tommy Warner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Warner wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Tommy Warner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Dubois is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Warner's half guard.
Warner is in trouble now - Dubois has advanced to mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Dubois has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
