Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benny Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane McLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Askren might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to wave after wave mr probs. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benny Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane McLain!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLain lands the left hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Askren.
Sloppy strikes from Askren. Those never looked like landing.
A jab from McLain misses.
Askren gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
McLain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Askren moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Askren misses with a lunging right hand
and McLain counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McLain is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Askren takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McLain keeps the fight on the outside.
Benny Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLain fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Askren looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Askren tries to clinch
and McLain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A jab from McLain does it's job there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McLain misses with a looping left.
A left lands for McLain.
Askren is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Askren closes the distance looking to clinch
and McLain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

McLain darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
McLain looks to land a right hand but Askren moved out of range.
Askren avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McLain lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Askren has taken the fight to the clinch.
McLain fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Askren lands a body shot in the clinch.

Askren breaks from the clinch.
Askren throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McLain sees it coming and avoids it easily.

As Askren backs off McLain throws a huge counter combo but Askren manages to avoid it all.
McLain thows a left - swing and a miss!

and McLain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McLain connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Askren wants to slow McLain down by chopping away at his legs.

McLain is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Askren had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Askren slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

McLain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and McLain counters with a three punch combo that has Askren backing up. Askren nods at McLain to acknowledge the strikes.
McLain stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
McLain walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Askren throws a poor cross that misses
letting McLain counter with a right hand.

McLain tests Askren's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Shane McLain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McLain slips under a jab.
McLain might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

McLain throws a looping overhand right but Askren ducks down to avoid it.

Askren pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces McLain back to the ropes. Askren follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Shane McLain has been cut.
Askren misses the shot to the body.
It seemed like McLain was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Askren drops down looking for a counter takedown but McLain sprawls and moves away.

Askren shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McLain napping and manages to drive through into side control!

McLain bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
McLain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Askren.
McLain misses with a looping right.
Askren walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and McLain counters with a nice uppercut.
Askren tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. McLain manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Askren throws a lazy right hand but McLain sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Askren closes the distance and pushes McLain back into the ropes.

McLain gets underhooks to prevent Askren's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benny Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McLain manages to break the clinch.
Askren takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

McLain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Askren.
Askren looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McLain is fending him off so far but Askren persists. Nope, McLain circles away and we're back to standing.

During a confident post fight interview, Shane McLain thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
