Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Laston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Serra is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Laston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Serra!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Laston paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Laston drives through with a takedown into Serra's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Serra scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Serra is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Serra.

Laston throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Serra was covering up waiting for the punch and Laston finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Serra manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Laston decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Laston is trying to control. Serra wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Serra tries to kick Laston off but Laston keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Serra is looking to control Laston's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Serra avoid being mounted?
Laston throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Serra moves into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Laston working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Serra's head.
Serra is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Laston pushes Serra off looking to stand but Serra dives back in and keeps control.
Laston on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Laston tries to get out of the position.

Serra is working for a kimura but Laston is defending it quite comfortably.
Laston is trying to stand back up but Serra is controlling him

Serra works his foot free and advances to mount.

Serra is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Laston is surviving well by controlling Serra's body position as best he can.

Serra is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Laston is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Laston flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Serra anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Laston and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Serra slips an arm under Laston chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Serra has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Serra is squeezing on Laston like an anaconda would it's prey. Laston fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
