Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rasul Mirzaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mirzaev has chosen Natalie La Rose - Somebody ft. Jeremih as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rasul Mirzaev!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza throws a body punch but Mirzaev moves out of range.
It seemed like Mirzaev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mendoza throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mirzaev counters with a straight right hand.
Mirzaev lands a leg kick that knocks Mendoza off balance momentarily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mirzaev.
Mendoza lands with a straight right. Mirzaev didn't see that one coming.
Mendoza throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mirzaev staying out of range there.
Mendoza sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Mirzaev misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Mirzaev moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mirzaev lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Mirzaev looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Mirzaev has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Mendoza drops his hands momentarily and Mirzaev takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

enabling Mendoza to counter with a crisp jab.

Mendoza tests Mirzaev's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mendoza is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Mendoza counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Mirzaev takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mendoza takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mirzaev throws the left hand but Mendoza avoids the punch easily.
Mendoza takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Mirzaev scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Mendoza throws a jab but it's blocked by Mirzaev.

and Mirzaev counters with a nice uppercut.

Mirzaev closes the distance and pushes Mendoza back into the ropes.

Mirzaev's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mendoza wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mendoza wants to get back to striking at distance but Mirzaev won't allow it.

and Mirzaev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Mendoza dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Mendoza throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mirzaev looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mendoza lands a head shot.
Mirzaev rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mendoza moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mendoza sizes up Mirzaev with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Mirzaev avoids the body shot from Mendoza.
Mirzaev feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mendoza's calf.
Mirzaev misses with a lunging right hand
and Mendoza counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Mirzaev misses with a head kick.
Mendoza looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mendoza lands a nice shot that snaps Mirzaev's head back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mendoza throws a series of punches but Mirzaev avoids them all with ease.

Mirzaev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendoza sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mendoza was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Mirzaev lands a head kick. Mendoza smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Mendoza throws a hook but Mirzaev avoids it easily.
Mirzaev looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Mirzaev misses with a hook
and Mendoza counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Mirzaev lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Mendoza sprawling to the canvas. Mirzaev follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Mendoza hang on?


Mendoza is rocked!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mirzaev stands up and beckons Mendoza to join him on the feet.
Oh Mendoza is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mirzaev misses with a series of wild punches.
Mirzaev throws an overhand right that drops Mendoza like a sack of potatoes! Mirzaev dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rasul Mirzaev!
After the fight, Rasul Mirzaev was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
