PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julius Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Sp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sp has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julius Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Sp!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sp closes the distance and clinches.

Evans turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Evans manages to end up in side control.
Sp looks winded!
Sp is looking to reverse the position.
Evans controls the position from side control.
You can see the frustration on Sp's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Evans really is a fat lump.
Evans throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sp works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Evans seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Evans is nestled in close to Sp, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Evans shoots in and drives through. Sp sprawls well.
Evans shoots in but Sp avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Georges Sp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Evans closes the distance and clinches.

Evans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sp gets tackled into the cage by Evans. Evans maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Evans manages to break the clinch.
Sp is breathing heavily.

Evans clinches.

Evans is trying to trip Sp. He has hold of a leg but Sp is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Evans persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Evans might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sp wants to get back to his feet but Evans passes into half guard.
Evans is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sp can do to turn this around?
Sp is trying to get back to full guard.

Evans stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sp to get to his feet.

Evans looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sp!
Sp tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Sp defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Evans.
Sp is working to get back to half guard.

Sp wants to control but Evans is having none of it.
Sp keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Evans is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sp can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Sp keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Sp tries to hold on but Evans postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans cracks Sp with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julius Evans dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard.
Sp is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Evans dives into side control.

Evans grinds an elbow into Sp's temple.
Sp takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Evans tries for a kimura but Sp is defending well.

Evans works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.


Sp is rocked!
Evans looks up at the clock and then as Sp takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Evans smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Sp is still in real trouble! Can Evans finish him?
Evans is working Sp over with some ground and pound from side control.

Evans is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sp has escaped the position, nice work there.
Evans lands some shots froms side control.
Evans lands a strong strike to the head of Sp. That's dazed him! Evans looking to finish here. Sp is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Evans lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
