Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Willie Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tate is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Engine No. 9. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Tate!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salazar is looking to clinch but Tate is avoiding it.
Salazar looks to land a combination but Tate avoids it well.
Salazar lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tate backs up against the cage.
Salazar takes a swing at Tate's ribcage but misses.
Salazar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tate sprawls well. Tate wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Salazar gets slowly back to his feet.
Salazar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tate swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Salazar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tate sprawls well initially but Salazar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tate is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Salazar scores with a couple of nice shots.
Salazar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tate's head.
Tate is trying to maintain the position but Salazar is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tate is refusing to be controlled, as Salazar sits in half guard.

Salazar is trying to control. Tate wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Salazar connects with a nice short shot to Tate's temple.

Salazar looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

And Tate tries to counter it with a takedown but Salazar pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Tate avoids a punch combination nicely.
Salazar cracks Tate with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Tate counters with a stiff right hand.
A jab from Salazar finds it's way through Tate's defenses.
Salazar lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Salazar moves into range and clinches up with Tate.

Tate gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Salazar is trying to stand up here but Tate is controlling him well.

Tate is looking for a kimura but Salazar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tate to get the leverage.
Tate stops Salazar from getting back to his feet.
Salazar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tate is working away from the top position though.

Salazar flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willie Salazar dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Salazar looks to land a combination. Tate sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Jackson Tate has been cut.
Salazar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Tate counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tate.

Salazar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Salazar scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


Tate is rocked!
Salazar lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Tate falls backwards - clearly groggy! Salazar dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Willie Salazar!
