PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Scarn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taiga Jim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim has chosen I Know There's Something Going On as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Scarn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taiga Jim!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scarn connects with a body shot that sends Jim's belly button to the back.
Scarn throws a hook but Jim avoids it easily.
Scarn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jim looks to land a combination but Scarn avoids it well.

Scarn closes the distance and pushes Jim back into the cage.
Scarn misses with a punch on the inside.
Jim has Scarn pushed against the cage.
Jim prevents a body shot from Scarn.
Scarn works on Jim's body with a couple of short punches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Jim - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Scarn.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scarn pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Scarn lands a nice elbow.
Scarn gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Scarn creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Jim's defenses.

Jim manages to break the clinch.
Jim has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jim ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jim changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Jim misses with a kick to the body.
It looked like Scarn wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Nice straight punches there by Scarn. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Scarn.
Scarn jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Scarn sets himself, and Jim steps forward looking for the clinch! Scarn avoids it this time.
Scarn connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Jim's hands.

Jim ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Scarn cracks Jim with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Scarn cracks Jim with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Scarn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jim sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Jim looks for the body kick but Scarn saw that one coming.
Scarn is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Jim feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Scarn is adopting a defensive guard.
Jim throws a big elbow that misses.

Scarn seems keen to control Jim's posture.
Scarn is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at The Gentleman's Club that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Scarn throws a hook but Jim blocks it.
Scarn connects with a single shot there.
Jim fails with a takedown attempt.
Jim misses with a straight right.
Scarn tries to counter by clinching up but Jim breaks away and moves out of range.

Scarn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Scarn showed some decent athleticism there.

Jim on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Scarn stalling.
Jim moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Scarn stopping the sweep attempt from Jim.
Scarn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jim replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Scarn blocks it well.
Taiga Jim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Jim uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Scarn.

Scarn connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jim. Jim circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Scarn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jim moves away.
Scarn tries to clinch but Jim is having none of it.

Jim breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Jim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Scarn takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Scarn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jim is looking to take a break and control but Scarn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Scarn's head.
Jim seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Scarn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Scarn tries to buck Jim off but Jim is having none of it.

Michael Scarn decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
