PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cody Chalke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Vela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Antonio Vela was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cody Chalke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Antonio Vela!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chalke tries a head kick but it misses.

Vela throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Chalke tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Vela is in Chalke's guard.
Vela has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chalke is proving hard to escape from.
Vela working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Vela trying to control but Chalke is working from the bottom.
Chalke manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vela manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vela throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Vela wants to stand but Chalke is controlling the position.
Vela can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chalke controls the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chalke advances to half guard.
Chalke is trying to control. Vela wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Vela keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Vela trying to get back to full guard but Chalke takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Vela is desperately trying to improve his position but Chalke has a good base and remains in mount.
The referee warns Vela that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Chalke scoring with strikes but Vela is staying in there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vela tries to hold on but Chalke postures up.
Chalke controlling the position easily from mount.
Chalke in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Chalke looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


Vela is rocked!
Vela is looking to get to half guard.
Vela takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Vela is still in real trouble! Can Chalke finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chalke pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Vela takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Chalke's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Chalke!
In his post fight interview, Cody Chalke started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
