Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Flannery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flannery kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Desmond Flannery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

23 - 22 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Barnett!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flannery with a hook.
Barnett takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Flannery throws a sloppy head kick and Barnett moves out of range easily.
Barnett slips a jab from Flannery.
Flannery throws a right and a left that Barnett avoids nicely.
Barnett closes the distance and clinches.
Flannery tries to break the clinch but Barnett is controlling the position.
Flannery is pushing Barnett up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Flannery tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Barnett keeps control of Flannery as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Barnett has Flannery pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Barnett pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Flannery tumbling to the mat - Barnett dives into Flannery's guard.
Flannery wants to stand but Barnett is controlling the position.
Barnett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Flannery is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barnett, into his guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Flannery stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Flannery throws a left and a right that both miss
so Barnett counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Barnett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Flannery is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barnett, into his guard.
Flannery is looking to stand up but Barnett won't let him.
Flannery stands and steps away. Barnett gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Barnett shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Flannery sprawls well. Flannery wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barnett gets slowly back to his feet.
Flannery connects with a looping right hand.
Flannery throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Flannery pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barnett throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Flannery's waist but Flannery gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barnett off to one side.
Barnett fails with the takedown.
Desmond Flannery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Barnett.

Flannery misses with a series of wild punches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barnett shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Flannery as he avoids it easily.

Barnett shoots in for a double leg but Flannery sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A punch lands to the side of Barnett 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Flannery throws a combination. Barnett tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Barnett shoots in for a takedown but Flannery shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Flannery misses with a head kick.

Flannery lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Flannery.
It looks like Brock Barnett has been cut.
Barnett shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Flannery went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Barnett is trying hard to land a takedown here. Flannery sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Barnett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Flannery pinned against the cage. Flannery gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Flannery throws a sloppy head kick and Barnett moves out of range easily.
Barnett will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

It looks like Flannery has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Barnett drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Barnett ducks right into an uppercut from Flannery.
The fight stays on the outside here - Barnett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Flannery swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Nice takedown defense from Flannery. No joy for Barnett on that attempt.

Barnett is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Flannery moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Desmond Flannery!
After winning the bout, Desmond Flannery thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
