Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kai Hiwatari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fun Fest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kai Hiwatari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fun Fest!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiwatari misses with a straight right.
No joy there for Hiwatari, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fest tries to counter by closing the distance.
Fest swats away the attempt to clinch by Hiwatari.
Hiwatari wants to clinch up but Fest keeps it at a distance.
Fest lands a glancing blow to the side of Hiwatari's head.
Kai Hiwatari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fest defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hiwatari.
Hiwatari looks for a takedown but Fest sprawls well.
Fest scores with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fest lands a jab.
Fest connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hiwatari's hands.
Nice uppercut lands for Fest. That snapped Hiwatari's head back.

A decent looking cross lands there for Fest.
Hiwatari shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fest but Fest pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Fest lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Fest fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hiwatari, pushing him back against the cage.

Fest lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Fest is pushing Hiwatari up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

It looks like Kai Hiwatari has been cut.
Hiwatari is breathing heavily.
Hiwatari tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fest smiles and moves away.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fest has managed to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fest lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hiwatari backwards.

Fest's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hiwatari looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Hiwatari looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fest is fending him off so far but Hiwatari persists. Nope, Fest circles away and we're back to standing.

Fest gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Hiwatari is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Fest gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Fest lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Fest creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Hiwatari is rocked!
Fest with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Oh Hiwatari is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fest lands an elbow just above Hiwatari 's eye.
Fest lands with a short shot to the head.
Fest lands a hook to the side of the head.

Fest turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Hiwatari bucks up and tries to throw Fest off but instead Fest has got his back!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fest is scoring with a succession of shots from the back. Hiwatari is covering up - he's had enough and the ref steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fun Fest!
