PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Moses Huffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Moses Huffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy James!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
James connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Huffman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Huffman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Huffman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Huffman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Huffman looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Huffman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.
Huffman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Huffman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Huffman drops an elbow to the side of James's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Huffman is nestled in close to James, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Huffman wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
James is trying to stand up here but Huffman is controlling him well.

Huffman is working for a kimura but James is defending it quite comfortably.
James wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jimmy James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Huffman darts in looking for a takedown but James gets double underhooks and turns Huffman into the cage.
Huffman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Huffman is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from James.

Huffman closes the distance and clinches.

Huffman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Huffman has taken the fight to the clinch.

Huffman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've been informed that James has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Huffman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Huffman's hands.
James lands with a straight right. Huffman didn't see that one coming.
James throws a good cross that connects.
James swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Huffman counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

James wriggles free and stands up.
Huffman shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
James misses with a kick to the body

and Huffman counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

Huffman tries for a kimura but James is defending well.
Huffman landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Moses Huffman will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


James throws a series of strikes that have Huffman backpedaling.


It looks like Moses Huffman has been cut.
James moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
James throws a jab when Huffman was well out of range.
Jimmy James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
James misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Huffman.
James throws a right hand that Huffman ducks under and follows up with a left that Huffman also avoids with ease.
Huffman takes a body punch but keeps moving.
James lands a jab-cross combination.
James misses with a double jab

and Huffman counters by moving into the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Huffman goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Huffman breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Huffman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from James finds it's way round the side to connect with Huffman's head.
James tries to work over Huffman's front leg with a kick but Huffman checks it.
James thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jab from James.
James is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Huffman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
James might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
James scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


Huffman is rocked!
James cracks Huffman with a hook to the temple - Huffman is on wobbly legs here! James swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Huffman falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! James wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jimmy James!
