PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeramy Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabio Aniquilador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeramy Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Aniquilador!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Aniquilador tenderised Charles's leg. Charles is trying to keep his angry face on.

Charles bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Charles trying to control the action but Aniquilador is working from the bottom.
Charles could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Aniquilador wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Charles postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Aniquilador pushes Charles away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Charles gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Aniquilador is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles throws an elbow but Aniquilador slips to the side and avoids it well.
Aniquilador is looking for a sweep.
Charles is looking to take a break and control but Aniquilador is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Aniquilador parries the strikes from Charles easily there. Charles is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Aniquilador to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Charles grinds an elbow into Aniquilador's temple.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Aniquilador some visible discomfort.

Charles working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Aniquilador dodges the ground and pound from Charles.

Charles stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Aniquilador throws a right and a left that both miss.
Charles will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fabio Aniquilador seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Aniquilador dives in and grabs Charles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Charles pushes down on Aniquilador's head and hops out.

Charles shoots in looking for a takedown but Aniquilador manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Charles's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

And Aniquilador tries to counter it with a takedown but Charles pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Charles shoots in for a takedown but Aniquilador shows good takedown defense.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Charles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeramy Charles will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Charles has his foot on Aniquilador's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aniquilador works his way back into a safe position though.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Aniquilador forces Charles back against the cage and clinches.
Charles jumps guard but Aniquilador stands there with Charles around his waist. Charles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Charles is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aniquilador defends well.
Aniquilador is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Aniquilador wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fabio Aniquilador showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

It looks like Jeramy Charles has been cut.

Aniquilador lands a big head kick that sends Charles tumbling to the mat! Aniquilador takes a step backwards and waves Charles back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Charles walks straight into a right hand from Aniquilador - that's dropped him! Aniquilador jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Charles from any more punishment! Charles complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Fabio Aniquilador!
