Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Chalke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by X Gonna Give It To You. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cody Chalke!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chalke fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alves to the ground. Chalke is now in Alves's guard.
Chalke is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Chalke makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chalke defends well.
Chalke scoring with punches to the head and body.

Alves throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alves wants to sweep but no luck.
Alves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chalke controls the pace.

Chalke wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
Chalke is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alves sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chalke's guard.

Alves seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chalke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Chalke has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Gorilla Warfare MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Alves tries to stand and escape but Chalke actually recovers to full guard.

Alves has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chalke is proving hard to escape from.

Chalke lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Chalke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chalke landing with the ground and pound.
Chalke connects with a couple of short punches.
Chalke postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chalke slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Chalke is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chalke postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chalke distracts Alves with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Chalke cracks Alves with a solid left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chalke shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Chalke was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Alves takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Alves tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Chalke controls the position.
Chalke tries to move to mount but Alves blocks the move with his legs.
Alves tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chalke wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Chalke tries to advance to mount but Alves denies him.
Alves takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Chalke wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.

Chalke is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Alves will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Alves is trying to escape the position but Chalke is controlling the position.

Chalke is taking a breather. Alves says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Cody Chalke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Alves is working for a kimura here but Chalke manages to reverse the position and he's now in Alves's guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Alves has momentary wrist control but Chalke slips an elbow through the middle.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chalke can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chalke pulls Alves in close to prevent any damage.
Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Chalke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Chalke gets caught napping as Alves dives in and scores a takedown. Chalke manages to retain guard.
Chalke looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Chalke wants to sweep but no luck.

Alves postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Chalke is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alves, into his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carlos Alves.
Well Chalke has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Cody Chalke rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
The defeated Carlos Alves had this to say: 'Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Wrestling and life are that way. So im going To train harder for the next time'.
