PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucius Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Baldwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucius Bean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Baldwin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baldwin fails to land the takedown.
Baldwin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Bean stuffs the takedown.
Bean looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Bean throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Baldwin tries to move into range but Bean moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Baldwin throws a low kick, looking for Bean's leg but Bean calmly moves out of range.
Bean jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
A combination from Bean does no damage.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Bean.
Baldwin takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bean pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Bean really is a fat lump.

Bean changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baldwin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bean works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Bean is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Baldwin has escaped the position, nice work there.

Baldwin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bean lands a nice forearm strike.

Bean connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Baldwin some visible discomfort.

Bean has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Baldwin seems a little lost for a moment, as Bean dominates the positioning.

Bean lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Baldwin down.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Baldwin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

The referee asks Bean politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bean prefers to stall for the moment though.
Bean wants to lay and pray for a moment but Baldwin keeps working.

Bean tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bean has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lucius Bean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bean throws a front kick aimed at Baldwin's knee but Baldwin avoids it well.
Bean throws a nice looking combination but Baldwin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Bean working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Baldwin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baldwin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Baldwin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bean seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Baldwin for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Bean has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
