Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Sharp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Harata Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharp tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Araujo defends well and Sharp ends up having to push Araujo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Araujo gets a double leg takedown into Sharp's guard.

Sharp has his feet on Araujo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Araujo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sharp sprawls well initially but Araujo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sharp holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sharp has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Araujo is working away from the top position though.
Araujo wants to get back to his feet.
Sharp wants to control but Araujo is keeping busy.

Araujo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sharp defends it well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sharp wants to improve his position but Araujo is controlling well.
Sharp is trying to stand back up but Araujo is controlling him
Sharp knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Araujo on the ground.
Sharp flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Araujo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Sharp pushes Araujo off looking to stand but Araujo dives back in and keeps control.
Sharp trying to hold on to Araujo's head to control him but Araujo postures up.
Araujo is looking to advance position but Sharp won't allow it.

Araujo is trying to work for a kimura but Sharp is defending well.

Araujo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sharp is just riding it out for now. Araujo eventually gives up the hold.
Sharp tries to roll over but Araujo keeps him under control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sharp is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Araujo pulls his head out easily.
Sharp trying to control but Araujo postures up.

Araujo is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Sharp still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Sharp has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Araujo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sharp off and has taken his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Araujo has the hooks in. Sharp is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Araujo gets his hands free as Sharp looks to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harata Araujo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sharp fails with a takedown attempt.
Araujo is looking for the big counter here.
Araujo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Araujo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sharp has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sharp is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sharp is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Araujo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Sharp is working an open guard so Araujo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Harata Araujo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sharp drives through with a takedown into guard.

Araujo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sharp doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sharp manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Araujo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sharp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sharp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Araujo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sharp defends it easily.

Araujo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sharp working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Araujo's head.

Araujo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sharp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sharp with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Oh but Araujo is tightening it up a little... Sharp has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Sharp reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Sharp taps out! Nice BJJ there by Araujo!
