Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bart Paw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bart Paw had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 15 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bart Paw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy James!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paw drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
James tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The referee warns James that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
James takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
James is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paw scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish James?
James tries to lock up and control but Paw gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Paw controlling his opponent.
Paw lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James is squirming around, avoiding Paw's attempts to control the action.

Paw jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but James manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Paw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
Paw wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.
Paw really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Paw is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but James is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
James stops Paw from passing to mount.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

James is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Paw is controlling him well.
James looks winded!
James is looking to regain half guard here but Paw keeps moving and retains side control.

Paw stands up and beckons James to his feet.

Paw closes the distance and clinches.
Paw wants a takedown.
James misses with a hook to the ribs.
James has had enough of the clinch but Paw keeps him there for the moment.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Paw fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Paw turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
James wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
James wants to control but Paw postures up.

Paw wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.

Paw decides to stand back up.

Paw darts in looking for a takedown but James gets double underhooks and turns Paw into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bart Paw. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Paw but Paw pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Paw appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Paw tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but James defends well and Paw ends up having to push James into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Paw shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. James defends it nicely.
James throws a counter combo.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Paw avoids the head kick by James.
Paw thinks about countering with a head kick.
Paw slaps away a takedown attempt from James, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Paw's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paw manages to get an easy takedown there - catching James on his heels. He'll look to pass James's guard now, I'm sure.
James wants to get back to his feet but Paw passes into half guard.
James is breathing heavily.

James is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Paw scores with a couple of nice shots.

Paw seems to be working for a kimura but James defends the submission attempt.

Bart Paw overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Paw is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Paw wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.
James has hold of Paw's hands but Paw slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Paw is trying to control. James wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Paw lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Paw is pressing down on James's thigh, looking to free his foot. James is holding on for now.
Paw passes into side control, despite James's attempt to control the position.
James is trying to control Paw's posture but Paw avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Paw tries to advance to mount but James denies him.

Paw looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Paw working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


James leaves Paw with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Paw, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
