Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Serra!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Serra gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Masters to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Masters wants to control from the top but Serra keeps moving.
Masters controls from within his opponent's guard.
Serra is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masters won't allow Serra to sweep him here.
Masters throwing strikes from guard but Serra blocks nicely.
Serra looking to hit a scissor sweep but Masters is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Serra managing to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Serra misses with a takedown attempt - Masters sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Serra darts in looking for a takedown but Masters gets double underhooks and turns Serra into the cage.
Masters appears to be looking for a big counter.
A big right from Masters misses.
Masters takes a swing at Serra's ribcage but misses.
Masters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Serra doesn't manage to clinch there - Masters circles away.

Serra shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Masters's guard.

Serra drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Masters dives on top into guard.

Masters stays in close to Serra's body and controls the position.
Serra is trying to control the position but Masters postures up.
Serra keeping moving, preventing Masters from controlling successfully.
Serra pulls Masters in close to prevent any damage.
Masters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Masters wants to control from the top but Serra keeps moving.

Serra is looking for a triangle but Masters pushes his legs off easily.
Serra controls Masters momentarily but Masters frees himself.
Serra can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Masters controls the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Serra wants to stand up but Masters is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Serra tries to sprawl but Masters drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Serra manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Masters keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Serra is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Masters pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Tommy Masters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Serra.

Masters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Serra uses from the top position.
Serra passes Masters's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Masters looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Masters looking for a kimura from the bottom but Serra passes into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Masters will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Masters bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Serra tries to buck Masters off but Masters is having none of it.

Masters is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Serra knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Masters misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Serra manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Serra is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Masters lands a nice short elbow.
Masters trying to control from half guard but Serra is working away.
Tommy Masters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Serra is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Serra is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Masters trying to control the action but Serra is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Serra closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Masters's guard.
Masters controls Serra momentarily but Serra frees himself.

Masters is looking for a triangle but Serra pushes his legs off easily.
Masters keeping moving, preventing Serra from controlling successfully.
Masters seems keen to control Serra's posture.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masters is looking to stand back up but Serra counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Masters.
Serra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Serra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Masters keeps working.
Serra seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Masters is trying to control but can't.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Serra gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Masters gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Serra controlling the position for now.
Serra is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Serra is staying active underneath Masters, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Masters blocks the strikes from Serra.
Serra is looking to get back to is feet but Masters passes into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tommy Masters will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Serra forces Masters back against the cage and clinches.

Masters is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Serra can't fight it off and eventually Masters manages to take the fight to the floor. Serra looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Serra kicks Masters off and gets to his feet.
Left hook, right uppercut from Serra.

Serra closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Masters has hold of one of Serra's legs. Serra is fighting the takedown attempt but Masters gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Serra wriggles free and stands up.
Serra fails to land the takedown.

Serra gets caught napping as Masters dives in and scores a takedown. Serra manages to retain guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Serra is looking for a triangle but Masters pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masters seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Masters's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Serra is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Masters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Serra wants to stand up but Masters is controlling him.
Serra pulls Masters in close to his closed guard and prevents Masters from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Masters shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Serra manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Serra looking for a guillotine here but Masters defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masters looking to sit in guard and control but Serra gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Serra lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Masters is working an open guard so Serra takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Serra closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Masters's guard.

Masters has his foot on Serra's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Serra works his way back into a safe position though.
Masters lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Masters trying to control but Serra is working from the bottom.
Serra pulls Masters in close to prevent any damage.
Masters wants to control from the top but Serra keeps moving.
Serra can't keep his opponent in guard - Masters advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Matt Serra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Masters has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
