EPL Semi Final PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Donowitz and Jacob Koch. Donowitz comes to the cage accompanied by JEW FLOW. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koch's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Donowitz connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Koch scrambles back to his feet.

I was talking to Donowitz's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Koch tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Donowitz swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Koch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Koch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Koch lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Donowitz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Koch's calf.

Donowitz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Koch quickly recovers to half guard.

Koch is concentrating on defense, preventing Donowitz from advancing position.

Donowitz seems to be working for a kimura but Koch defends the submission attempt.
Donowitz wants to advance to full mount but Koch doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Koch has Donowitz pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Koch jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Donowitz tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Koch feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Donowitz's calf.
Donowitz shoots in looking for a takedown. Koch tries to sprawl out of it but Donowitz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Koch manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Abraham Donowitz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koch throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Donowitz is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Koch stuns Donowitz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Donowitz is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Donowitz fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Koch checks it well.

Koch keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
It seemed like Koch was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abraham Donowitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A decent looking body kick lands there for Donowitz.
Donowitz finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Koch ducks under a wild hook from Donowitz.
Donowitz lands with a right hand.
Donowitz throws a jab but it's blocked by Koch.
Donowitz connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Donowitz throws the left hand but Koch avoids the punch easily.
Donowitz swings away with a body shot that misses
and Koch counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Donowitz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Koch swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Donowitz uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Koch has time to react.
Koch thumps Donowitz with a low kick.
Donowitz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Koch on the side of the head.
Good leg kick by Koch there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Donowitz throws a right and a left that Koch avoids nicely.
Koch looks like he wants to counter punch here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Abraham Donowitz.
I think Donowitz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
