PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rico Buck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Minecraft Mine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rico Buck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Minecraft Mine!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mine scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Buck struggling a bit here.
Mine sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Buck is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Mine decides to stand back up.
Mine throws a leg kick
and Buck counters with a body kick that stops Mine in his tracks momentarily.

Mine clinches up with Buck and pushes him back against the cage.
Mine is trying to push Buck away but Buck has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Buck is trying to break free.

Mine decides to pull guard.
Mine wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Buck is looking to work some ground and pound but Mine has wrist control.
Buck has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Buck throws an elbow that misses. Mine uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Buck's guard. Nice move by Mine!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Buck is looking to stand up but Mine isn't so interested in that idea.

Mine stands and steps away. Buck gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mine shoots in and bounces Buck off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mine gets to his feet. Buck looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Mine has taken the fight to the clinch.
Come on Mine - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Buck tries to stall but Mine uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Buck has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Buck tries to circle away but Mine has him pinned against the cage.
Mine tries to land knees in the clinch but Buck avoids the damage to the body.

Buck jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mine walks away with a smile on his face. Buck gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mine dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Mine shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Buck's guard.

Mine controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
It looks like Mine might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Mine loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mine is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Buck is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mine gets to his feet - Buck follows without any prompting.

Mine gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mine scores with a shoulder strike.


It looks like Rico Buck has been cut.

Mine has clasped his hands together around Buck's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Buck is letting Mine control him for a moment.
Sloppy strikes there by Mine.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buck looks to land a combination but Mine avoids it well.

Mine shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Buck manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mine tries to score with some ground and pound. Buck controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Mine takes a little break here. Buck wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Mine is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Buck will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buck is not content to let Mine control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mine closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Mine gets control of Buck's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mine will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Buck doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Buck manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mine is adopting a defensive guard.

Mine has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Buck off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Buck has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mine is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Minecraft Mine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Buck's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Mine scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Mine thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Buck's head.

Mine is trying to work for a kimura but Buck is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mine is looking to advance position but Buck won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mine prevents Buck from breaking the clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Buck wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Buck tries to circle away but Mine has him pinned against the cage.
Buck is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Mine is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Buck is keeping busy.
Buck tries to pull guard but Mine holds him up against the cage and eventually Buck drops back down to his feet.
Buck can't break the clinch.
Buck wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mine has him pressed against the cage.
Mine has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Buck has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Buck jumps guard and drags Mine to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Mine keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Buck's head.

Mine gets to his feet. Buck looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Buck is looking for a counter combo.

Mine rushes Buck and presses him up against the cage.
Mine effectively controlling the action here.
Buck fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Buck has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Mine has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Buck uses from the top position.

Mine is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mine wriggles free and stands up.
Buck throws a right and a left that Mine avoids nicely.
That kick from Buck tenderised Mine's leg. Mine is trying to keep his angry face on.
Buck throws a wild body kick that Mine sees coming a mile off.

Mine shoots in and bounces Buck off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mine missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mine seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Minecraft Mine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mine winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
