The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez misses with an uppercut
and Watanabe counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Watanabe cracks Rodriguez with a big right hand and Rodriguez goes down!
Rodriguez is rocked!
Watanabe advances position into side control!
Oh Rodriguez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodriguez tries to escape but Watanabe is in control.
Rodriguez seems to have got his legs back now.
Watanabe throws a strike aimed at the side of Rodriguez 's head but Rodriguez avoids it well.

Watanabe goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rodriguez turns into him and now he's in Watanabe's guard.
Watanabe wants to improve his position but instead Rodriguez has moved into half guard.
Watanabe is looking for a sweep. Rodriguez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rodriguez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Watanabe wants to get back to full guard.
Watanabe felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodriguez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Watanabe has managed to free his arm - good work.
Watanabe gets back to full guard.

Rodriguez wants to stand and escape but instead Watanabe has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Watanabe throws a strike but Rodriguez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Watanabe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rodriguez 's guard.
Watanabe prevents Rodriguez from getting back to his feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Watanabe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rodriguez is pushing Watanabe's head away, looking to escape. Watanabe manages to hold on to the position though.
Watanabe throws an elbow but Rodriguez slips to the side and avoids it well.
Watanabe looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Watanabe tries to advance to mount but Rodriguez denies him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shun Watanabe dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rodriguez works over Watanabe's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Shun Watanabe has been cut.
Watanabe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rodriguez tries for a takedown but Watanabe circles away easily
and Watanabe counters with a nice body shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by Watanabe.

Watanabe scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rodriguez doesn't seem bothered though.
Watanabe cracks Rodriguez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Watanabe with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Watanabe throws a body kick that misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Watanabe throws a low kick, looking for Rodriguez 's leg but Rodriguez calmly moves out of range.
Watanabe lands with a cross.
Watanabe closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Rodriguez ! Watanabe dives in looking to finish! Rodriguez is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shun Watanabe!
In his post fight interview, Shun Watanabe started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
