Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lavern Meyers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cliff Hangar!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hangar drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hangar sitting in guard here, content to control.
Hangar trying to control but Meyers is working from the bottom.
Hangar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Meyers controlling Hangar's posture.
Meyers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hangar content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hangar throws a big elbow that misses.
Hangar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hangar throws out a loose jab but Meyers uses good head movement to avoid it.
Meyers is looking to counter the offense by Hangar and move into the clinch.
Hangar scores with a nice strike.

Hangar gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hangar tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Meyers avoids it.
Meyers wants to break free but Hangar has control.
Hangar is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Meyers is defending well for now.

Hangar manages to break the clinch.
Hangar throws a jab when Meyers was well out of range.

Meyers throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hangar was covering up waiting for the punch and Meyers finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hangar pushes Meyers off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hangar buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Hangar has Meyers up against the cage in a clinch.

Meyers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hangar drives through and clinches with Meyers against the cage.

Hangar breaks the clinch.
A jab from Hangar misses.
Hangar misses with the combination.

Meyers shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hangar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Meyers's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hangar is adopting a defensive guard.
Hangar wants to stand and escape but Meyers is having none of it.
Meyers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hangar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Meyers trying to control the position from guard on top but Hangar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Meyers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Meyers gets to his feet - Hangar follows without any prompting.
A clash of legs there as Meyers blocks the low kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Meyers gets caught flat footed, as Hangar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Meyers looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hangar wants to control from the top but Meyers keeps moving.
Hangar postures up in Meyers's guard and throws a big left but Meyers blocks it.

Meyers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Meyers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hangar is one step ahead there.
Meyers is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cliff Hangar dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hangar throws a big shot that misses.
Hangar misses with a wild body shot.
Meyers seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Meyers takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Lavern Meyers has been cut.
Meyers misses with a takedown attempt - Hangar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Meyers on the wrong end of a nice jab.


Meyers is rocked!
Are you kidding me?! Hangar ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Meyers clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!
