PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Spence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Parkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parkin has chosen AFI - Miseria Cantare as his entrance music. Lee Spence has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Spence!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Corey Parkin!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spence gets the takedown into side control.

Parkin throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Parkin darts in and clinches Spence up against the cage.
Spence jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Parkin walks away with a smile on his face. Spence gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Parkin has Spence up against the cage in a clinch.

Spence breaks from the clinch.
Parkin scores with a one two! Spence had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Lee Spence has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Parkin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Spence to the mat! Spence manages to get full guard.
Spence has control of Parkin's left arm, preventing Parkin from doing any damage.
Parkin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Spence will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Spence will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Parkin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Parkin won't allow Spence to sweep him here.
Spence trying to strike off his back.
Parkin wants to stand but Spence has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Parkin looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Corey Parkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parkin takes the fight into the clinch.
Parkin with a knee to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spence tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Parkin just stands there and leans against the cage.

Spence pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Parkin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Spence is trying to control but can't.

Parkin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Parkin has Spence up against the cage in a clinch.
A short right from Parkin on the inside.
Spence is trying to break the clinch but Parkin is controlling him.
Spence jumps guard but Parkin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Spence. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Spence wants to break the clinch but can't.
Spence misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Parkin.
Parkin scores with a shot to the side of Spence's head.
A bit of stalling here from Parkin.
Parkin gets underhooks to prevent Spence's takedown attempt.
Spence is breathing heavily.
Good body shot from Parkin.
Spence trying to land knees to the body.
Parkin lands with a right to the head.
Parkin stalls.
Spence has had enough of the clinch but Parkin keeps him there for the moment.
Parkin takes a knee to the side of the body.
Parkin lands with a light punch inside.


Spence is rocked!

Parkin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oh Spence is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Parkin clinches.
Parkin is muscling Spence up against the cage and as Spence bounces back off, Parkin cracks him with a huge right hand! Spence crumples to the mat - he's out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Corey Parkin!
Corey Parkin seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
