PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quiet Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhengtao Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monkey comes to the cage accompanied by Epic - Faith No More. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Wei lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Monkey has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Monkey and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Wei throws a push kick but Monkey slaps the foot to one side.

Monkey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Monkey throws a strike but Wei avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Monkey is fighting to break Wei's control of his arms but Wei is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Monkey swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Wei.

Monkey darts in looking for a takedown but Wei gets double underhooks and turns Monkey into the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wei working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Monkey manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wei's best efforts.

Monkey is looking for a triangle but Wei pushes his legs off easily.

Monkey is persistently looking for the submission but Wei is defending it well.

Monkey goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Wei escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Wei seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Monkey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Monkey drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wei looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wei looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wei!

Monkey is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wei is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I would just about give that final round to Zhengtao Wei.
Well Wei has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
