Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keiichi Yamada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a head kick that misses.
Thompson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yamada stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Yamada closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Thompson's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Thompson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Yamada keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thompson's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thompson wants to stand up but Yamada is controlling him.
Yamada passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamada tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Yamada is looking to take a break and control but Thompson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee asks Yamada politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Yamada prefers to stall for the moment though.

Yamada is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Thompson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Thompson is trying to buck Yamada off.
Yamada lands a decent elbow from side control.
Yamada working the head with strikes.
Yamada has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Thompson really wants to buck Yamada off and get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yamada trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Yamada fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Yamada landing strikes from the mount.
Yamada lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Thompson hang on?


Thompson is rocked!
Yamada controlling his opponent.
Thompson is still in real trouble! Can Yamada finish him?
Yamada has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Thompson seems to have recovered his senses.
Yamada landing strikes, looking to finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thompson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Yamada connects with a bit shot that sees Thompson covering up! More strikes from Yamada and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Yamada is our winner by TKO!
