The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle misses with a looping left.
Nevel takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nevel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Battle paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Battle misses with a hook. Nevel ducked under it nicely.
Nevel tries to counter by closing the distance.
Battle throws a big shot that misses.
Dre Battle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Nevel finds it's way through Battle's defenses.
Battle misses with a wild body shot.
Battle fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Battle misses the shot to the body.
Battle throws a combination. Nevel tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Nevel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Battle connects with a single shot there.
Nevel is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nevel is looking to clinch but Battle is avoiding it.
Nevel is still on wobbly legs! Can Battle finish him?
Battle drops Nevel with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Nevel! Battle dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Dre Battle was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
