PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Endon Sezzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Irvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Endon Sezzer!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sezzer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Irvin shoots in and bounces Sezzer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Irvin pushing down on Sezzer's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Sezzer actively working from the bottom here.
Irvin is trying to control the action in half guard but Sezzer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sezzer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Irvin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Irvin prevents Sezzer from improving his position.
Irvin passes to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sezzer is looking for a sweep.
Irvin throws an elbow but Sezzer slips to the side and avoids it well.
Irvin throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Irvin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sezzer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sezzer is looking to reverse the position.
Irvin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sezzer is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Irvin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sezzer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Irvin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sezzer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Irvin is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Sezzer looks calm but he's in trouble here. Irvin gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Sezzer is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Irvin lets go of the hold and Sezzer can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul Irvin!
An out of breath Paul Irvin thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Endon Sezzer had this to say: 'butt'.
