Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bernie Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bagus Mims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bagus Mims has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bernie Delgado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bagus Mims!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Delgado forces Mims back against the cage and clinches.

Delgado pulls guard effortlessly.
Mims working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Delgado lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mims trying to control the position.

Delgado is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Delgado trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Delgado is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mims is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Delgado controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Delgado has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Delgado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mims can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Delgado slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mims tries to bum rush Delgado with a series of wild strikes but Delgado uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Delgado moves into the clinch.

Delgado gets control of Mims's arms and successfully pulls guard. Delgado will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Delgado is on top in guard.

Mims really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Delgado. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Delgado decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mims, up you get!
Mims swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mims stalks Delgado and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Delgado's face. Delgado staggers backwards, shaken.
Mims lands with a good body shot.
Mims looks to land a left hand but Delgado moved out of range nicely.

Delgado shoots in and bounces Mims off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Delgado not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Mims pulls Delgado in close to his closed guard and prevents Delgado from doing any damage or advancing position.

Mims has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Delgado is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Delgado breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mims dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Mims is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Delgado rather than just go for the knockout.
Mims fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Delgado on the side of the head.

Mims throws out a loose jab but Delgado uses good head movement to avoid it.
Delgado went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Mims connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mims misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd cheers as Mims lands an impressive looking overhand right. Delgado doesn't seem phased though.

Mims thuds his right hand into Delgado's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Mims digs a good hook to Delgado's body.
Mims motions for Delgado to come forward. Mims throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Delgado is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Delgado drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Delgado takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Delgado is controlling the pace.
Delgado lands with a punch from half guard.
Still in half guard, Delgado seems content to control.
Delgado looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mims with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
