PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Kacik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kacik has chosen The Hydrant - Bali Bandidos as his entrance music. Alexander Kacik told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alexander Kacik!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kacik scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


It looks like Marcus Hardy has been cut.
Kacik throws a leg kick that is checked
and Hardy counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hardy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hardy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kacik sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A combination from Kacik does no damage.
Hardy lands with a nice combination. Kacik backs away looking to recover.
Hardy lands with a cross.
A slow jab from Hardy misses its intended target.
Hardy throws a hook to the side of Kacik's head but Kacik sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hardy stuns Kacik with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kacik drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hardy regains half guard there - taking advantage of Kacik's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Kacik throwing shots but Hardy is blocking nicely.
Kacik scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Kacik is just content to waste time from the top position. Hardy takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kacik throws a big elbow that misses.
Kacik is looking to work some ground and pound but Hardy has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hardy has Kacik pulled in close to control his posture.
Kacik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hardy is pulling down on Kacik's head. It's preventing any offense from Kacik, at least for the moment.
Kacik throwing strikes but missing.
Hardy tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kacik drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hardy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hardy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hardy!

Hardy working the ground and pound but Kacik is defending the strikes.

You can see the frustration on Kacik's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kacik is trying to buck Hardy off.
Hardy tries to score with some ground and pound. Kacik controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kacik is looking to reverse the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kacik is still trying to improve position.
Kacik is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hardy is controlling him well.
Hardy lands a few punches from side control.
Kacik takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hardy misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Hardy is chipping away with strikes.
Hardy scoring with punches from side control.
Kacik manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kacik uses his free foot to push down on Hardy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hardy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hardy is squirming around, avoiding Kacik's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kacik lands a heavy elbow.
Hardy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kacik breaks from Hardy's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Kacik is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hardy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hardy!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kacik can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hardy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kacik's head.
Hardy postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kacik wants to stand up but Hardy is controlling him.
Hardy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Kacik has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hardy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marcus Hardy will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hardy fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kacik on the side of the head.
Kacik moves to clinch but Hardy breaks away
and Hardy counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hardy.
Hardy on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Kacik scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kacik misses with the ground and pound.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Kacik is looking to take a break and control but Hardy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kacik taking a break here but Hardy is having none of it and regains half guard.
Kacik is nestled in close to Hardy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kacik works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hardy tries to hold on but Kacik pushes him away.
Hardy is in a horrible position here. Kacik smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Marcus Hardy's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Marcus Hardy's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Alexander Kacik!
During a confident post fight interview, Alexander Kacik thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
