PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miles North (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Vazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). North comes into the arena with Men at Work - Down Under blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from North as Vazquez shoots in.
Vazquez fails with a takedown attempt.
Vazquez throws a series of punches but North avoids them all with ease.
North throws a lazy head kick
and Vazquez counters with a nice body shot.
North really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Vazquez shoots for a double leg takedown but North sprawls well. He's pushed Vazquez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
North throws a big counter combination but Vazquez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Miles North has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hector Vazquez.
North feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Vazquez's calf.

Vazquez throws a body shot but no joy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

North shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vazquez is trying to defend but North finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

North seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

North stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and North wants it to stay on the feet.
Vazquez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around North's waist but North gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vazquez off to one side.

North drives through and clinches with Vazquez against the cage.
North's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Horrible takedown attempt by Vazquez or perhaps it was just good defense by North, which made it look bad.
No joy there for Vazquez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

North is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vazquez's half guard.

North escapes and gets back to his feet.

Vazquez gets caught flat footed, as North shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

North stands and steps away. Vazquez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

North feints and as Vazquez raises his hands in defense, North changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've been hearing good reports from North's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
North is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

North closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vazquez's guard.
