PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jabber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raf Camora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Camora has chosen Eskimo Brothers-Joe Lajoie as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Jabber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raf Camora!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jabber leaves Camora with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Camora has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Camora throws a head kick but Jabber moves out of range.
Jim Jabber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Camora misses with a straight right.
Jabber appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Camora throws a right hand that Jabber ducks under and follows up with a left that Jabber also avoids with ease.
Jabber connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


It looks like Raf Camora has been cut.
Jabber slips a straight right by Camora.

Camora gets tackled into the cage by Jabber. Jabber maintains the clinch.

Camora has clasped his hands together around Jabber's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Camora tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jabber is trying to control Camora's posture but Camora avoids it.
Jabber tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Camora wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jabber being controlled for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Camora working away.
Camora tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Camora wants to control but Jabber is keeping him busy.
Jabber tries to bench press Camora off him but Camora keeps the position.
Camora taking a breather here.
Camora creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jabber sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Camora is looking to take a break and control but Jabber is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Camora moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Camora working the head and body with strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jabber is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Camora has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Sloppy strikes there by Camora.
Jabber wants to control but Camora postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Camora blocks a jab.
Jabber thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jabber throws a sloppy head kick and Camora moves out of range easily.
Camora cracks Jabber with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Camora defending well as Jabber loads up on a big left hand.
Camora throws a head kick that misses.
Jabber finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Camora fails with the takedown.
Camora misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jabber throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jabber's jab looks to have found its range, popping Camora under the eye.
Jim Jabber is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Camora misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Camora takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Jabber takes a swing at Camora's ribcage but misses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A left lands for Jabber.
A punch lands to the side of Jabber 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Camora takes one to the chin there.
Jabber tries to close the distance and clinch but Camora swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jabber connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Camora lands with a slapping head kick.
Camora circles away from the clinch attempt.

Camora looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Camora is thwarting Jabber's attempts to control the position.
Camora not doing much here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Raf Camora will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Raf Camora's cut.
That's time! Jabber's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Camora lands with a right that hurts Jabber. Jabber looks to clinch but Camora throws a short knee that drops Jabber. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Raf Camora!
During a confident post fight interview, Raf Camora thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
