Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wendell Finley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvin Calvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calvin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Finley gets full guard.
Calvin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Finley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Calvin looking to sit in guard and control but Finley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Calvin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Finley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Finley connects with a couple of short punches.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Calvin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Calvin throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Finley landing with the ground and pound.

Finley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Calvin, up you get!

Finley tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Calvin defends well and Finley ends up having to push Calvin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Calvin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Finley pushes Calvin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Finley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Calvin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A little feinted left hand from Finley on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Calvin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Finley closes the distance and pushes Calvin back into the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Calvin jumps guard.

Calvin is working an open guard so Finley takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Finley tries to clinch but Calvin moves out of range.

Calvin has managed to clinch.

Calvin breaks the clinch.
Finley fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Finley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Finley closes the distance and pushes Calvin back into the cage.

Calvin decides to pull guard.

Finley is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Finley is in close to Calvin's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Finley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Calvin's head.
Finley distracts Calvin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Finley scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Finley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Finley stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Finley doesn't manage to clinch there - Calvin circles away.

Calvin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Finley is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Calvin off and has taken his back!
Calvin just trying to survive but Finley is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
You can see the frustration on Calvin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Calvin covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Finley has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Calvin is in real trouble here. Finley gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Calvin is tapping out! Finley wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Wendell Finley!
