PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jacque Schtrappe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kisuke Urahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schtrappe comes to the cage accompanied by Nitzer Ebb - Violent Playground. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 46 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jacque Schtrappe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kisuke Urahara!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urahara fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Schtrappe on the side of the head.
Urahara throws a hook but Schtrappe blocks it.
Schtrappe throws a big shot that misses.
We've been told by Schtrappe's head coaches at LOD: Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Schtrappe avoids the head kick by Urahara.
Schtrappe throws a hook but Urahara avoids it easily.

Urahara closes the distance and pushes Schtrappe back into the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Schtrappe is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Urahara can't fight it off and eventually Schtrappe manages to take the fight to the floor. Urahara looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Urahara has an active guard here but Schtrappe has managed to pass into half guard.

Schtrappe seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Urahara is looking to get back to full guard here but Schtrappe has managed to pass to side control instead.

Schtrappe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Urahara does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Schtrappe is really struggling to control Urahara but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schtrappe swats away the attempt to clinch by Urahara.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Urahara cracks Schtrappe with a good jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Schtrappe darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Schtrappe takes a swing at Urahara's ribcage but misses.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Schtrappe cracks Urahara with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Schtrappe is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Schtrappe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Urahara.
Jacque Schtrappe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Urahara misses with a lunging right hand
and Schtrappe counters with a straight right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Schtrappe has Urahara pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Schtrappe pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Urahara tumbling to the mat - Schtrappe dives into Urahara's guard.

Schtrappe is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Urahara is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schtrappe wants to control from the top but Urahara keeps moving.
Schtrappe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Urahara throws an overhand right that lands on Schtrappe's shoulder, as Schtrappe tries to avoid the shot.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Good leg kick by Urahara there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Schtrappe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Urahara can do to turn this around?
Urahara tries to clinch but Schtrappe moves out of range.
It looked like Schtrappe was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Kisuke Urahara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Schtrappe has one foot on Urahara's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Urahara looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Urahara has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Urahara throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Urahara gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Urahara is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Urahara tries a body shot but Schtrappe blocks it.
Urahara is looking to take this one to the mat.
Urahara goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacque Schtrappe dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Schtrappe circles away from the clinch attempt.
Schtrappe feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Schtrappe scores with a leg kick.
Urahara wants to clinch up but Schtrappe keeps it at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Urahara looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Schtrappe throws a jab but it's blocked by Urahara.

A bone on bone clash there as Schtrappe blocks the leg kick.
A quick step to the side and Schtrappe tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Schtrappe tries to close the distance and clinch but Urahara swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Urahara cracks Schtrappe with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Urahara, right into the meat.

Schtrappe wants the takedown. Urahara is fighting it off but Schtrappe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Urahara's guard against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Schtrappe jabs Urahara to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jacque Schtrappe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Urahara throws the left hand but Schtrappe avoids the punch easily.
Schtrappe seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Schtrappe throws a shot from downtown. Urahara moves away and avoids it.
Schtrappe cracks Urahara with an open hand slap.
Schtrappe misses the shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Urahara. Schtrappe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Urahara lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Schtrappe has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Schtrappe and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Urahara doesn't manage to clinch there - Schtrappe circles away.
Schtrappe bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Schtrappe seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
That kick from Urahara tenderised Schtrappe's leg. Schtrappe is trying to keep his angry face on.

As Urahara tries to get set, Schtrappe tries to push him back and clinch up but Urahara manages to avoid the attempt.
Urahara throws a hook but Schtrappe avoids it easily.
Urahara loads up on a big right hand but Schtrappe slips the punch.
Urahara ducks right into an uppercut from Schtrappe.
Urahara tries to score with a low kick but Schtrappe moves his leg out of the way.
Schtrappe tries to clinch there but Urahara circles away.
Schtrappe throws a nice inside leg kick.

Schtrappe closes the distance and clinches.
Urahara tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Urahara throws a punch but it's blocked by Schtrappe.

Urahara drops down looking for an ankle pick but Schtrappe pulls his leg out and moves away.
An inside leg kick lands from Schtrappe.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacque Schtrappe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Schtrappe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
